Want to know how to schedule reels to Instagram?
Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri recently announced reels scheduling is coming to Instagram but it looks like it won’t have auto-publishing available.
Until auto-publishing is available I’ll continue to schedule reels to Instagram like this:
I have my own method of scheduling reels to Instagram by using a scheduling app, creating my reel in Instagram, saving the reel as a draft on Instagram, and then using my cover art as a posting reminder on my scheduling app.
Read on to find out more details on my strategy to schedule reels!

Use a Scheduling App
I use Loomly Social for scheduling my clients content across Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter but you could use any scheduling app!
I create my reel in IG, save it to my camera roll so I have back up, make sure the audio is saved to my library, and then I save the actual reel as a “draft” on Instagram.
I then create the cover art, write the caption and relevant hashtags, and then use that picture (the cover art) as a scheduled post on Loomly.
The key is to make sure “manually publish” is selected on Loomly instead of “auto publish”.
When the time comes to post I receive a push notification from Loomly. It copies the cover art to my camera roll and the caption to my keyboard. I go to my reels drafts, select my reel, copy in the caption and cover art and then post my reel to Instagram!
If You Don’t Have a Scheduling App
If you don’t want to use a scheduling app you could always save your reel as a draft with the caption and cover art and then use your calendar app on your phone to set a reminder to post.
Fingers crossed Instagram makes auto-publishing reels happen for us soon!!
