How to Use Instagram Analytics and Insights to Supercharge Your Marketing Strategy

In our previous blog post, we introduced you to the power of Instagram Analytics and Insights and why they’re essential for businesses. Now, let’s dive deeper and discover how to use Instagram analytics to optimise your marketing strategy and achieve your business goals.

    Analysing Your Performance

Understanding how your content performs on Instagram is key to refining your marketing strategy and driving better results. Instagram Analytics provides a wealth of data and metrics to help you assess your performance effectively.

Firstly, engagement metrics are crucial indicators of how well your content resonates with your audience. Metrics such as likes, comments, shares, and saves provide insights into the level of interaction your content receives. By monitoring these metrics over time, you can identify trends and patterns, understanding what type of content generates the most engagement.

Additionally, tracking reach and impressions allows you to assess the visibility of your content. Reach represents the number of unique accounts that have seen your content, while impressions represent the total number of times your content has been viewed. By analyzing these metrics, you can gain insights into how effectively your content is reaching your target audience and adjust your targeting and content strategy accordingly.

Furthermore, delving into follower demographics can provide valuable insights into your audience’s characteristics and preferences. Instagram Insights offers data on your audience’s age, gender, location, and interests, allowing you to tailor your content to better meet their needs. By understanding who your audience is, you can create content that resonates with them on a deeper level and drives higher engagement.

    Optimising Your Content Strategy

Once you’ve analysed your performance metrics, it’s time to optimise your content strategy to maximise engagement and reach. Still wondering how to use Instagram analytics? Here are some strategies to consider:

    1. Content Performance Analysis: Use Insights to analyze the performance of your individual posts, Stories, and Reels. Identify top-performing content based on metrics such as engagement rate and reach, and use these insights to inform your content strategy moving forward. Pay attention to factors such as content format, timing, and captions, replicating successful elements in future posts.
    2. Content Mix Experimentation: Experiment with different types of content to keep your feed fresh and engaging. Instagram supports various content formats, including images, videos, carousels, and live videos. Use Insights to evaluate the performance of each content type and refine your content mix accordingly. By diversifying your content, you can appeal to a wider audience and keep them coming back for more.
    3. Posting Schedule Optimisation: Timing is crucial on Instagram, as posting at the right times can significantly impact your reach and engagement. Use Insights to determine when your audience is most active and experiment with different posting schedules. Monitor engagement metrics to identify the optimal posting frequency and timing for your content.

    Driving Action with Instagram Ads

In addition to organic content, Instagram offers powerful advertising tools to help businesses reach their target audience and drive action. Here’s how you can leverage Instagram Ads to supercharge your marketing strategy:

    1. Ad Performance Tracking: If you’re running Instagram ad campaigns, use Insights to track the performance of your ads. Monitor metrics such as click-through rates, conversion rates, and cost per acquisition to assess the effectiveness of your campaigns. By analyzing these metrics, you can identify areas for improvement and optimize your ad spend for better results.
    2. Audience Insights Utilisation: Gain a deeper understanding of your ad audience by leveraging Insights data. Instagram Insights provides valuable insights into your ad audience’s demographics, interests, and behaviors, allowing you to refine your targeting and create more effective ad campaigns. By targeting the right audience with the right message, you can maximize the impact of your ads and drive higher conversions.
    3. A/B Testing Implementation: Experiment with different ad creatives, messaging, and targeting options to identify what resonates best with your audience. Use Insights to compare the performance of different ad variations and iterate on your campaigns for maximum effectiveness. By continuously testing and optimizing your ads, you can improve their performance over time and drive better results for your business.

In conclusion, Instagram Analytics and Insights are powerful tools that can help businesses optimize their marketing strategies and achieve their objectives. • Scheduling Instagram Reels

    Scheduling Instagram Reels

Want to know how to schedule reels to Instagram?

Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri recently announced reels scheduling is coming to Instagram but it looks like it won’t have auto-publishing available.

Until auto-publishing is available I’ll continue to schedule reels to Instagram like this:

I have my own method of scheduling reels to Instagram by using a scheduling app, creating my reel in Instagram, saving the reel as a draft on Instagram, and then using my cover art as a posting reminder on my scheduling app.

Read on to find out more details on my strategy to schedule reels!

    Use a Scheduling App

I use Loomly Social for scheduling my clients content across Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter but you could use any scheduling app!

I create my reel in IG, save it to my camera roll so I have back up, make sure the audio is saved to my library, and then I save the actual reel as a “draft” on Instagram.

I then create the cover art, write the caption and relevant hashtags, and then use that picture (the cover art) as a scheduled post on Loomly.

The key is to make sure “manually publish” is selected on Loomly instead of “auto publish”.

When the time comes to post I receive a push notification from Loomly. It copies the cover art to my camera roll and the caption to my keyboard. I go to my reels drafts, select my reel, copy in the caption and cover art and then post my reel to Instagram!

If You Don’t Have a Scheduling App

If you don’t want to use a scheduling app you could always save your reel as a draft with the caption and cover art and then use your calendar app on your phone to set a reminder to post.

Fingers crossed Instagram makes auto-publishing reels happen for us soon!!

  • How to organize video files for editing

How to organize video files for editing

Wondering how to organize video files for editing? There are lots of different methods, but here’s what I’ve found works best.

Make a new folder on your external drive for each new video topic. Inside this “project folder” is a “footage” folder that contains a-roll and b-roll subfolders. You’ll also have an “assets” folder that contains music, logos, and other effects. The editing program project file (like Adobe Premiere) can be saved within the main project file. Make sure to also export the final edited video to the project folder. You can save time by setting up an empty template folder structure that can be duplicated and renamed for each project.

Read on to learn all about how to organize video files for editing!

Introduction to organizing video files for editing

There are a lot of video files on your computer, and it can be tough to keep them all organized. If you’re looking for a way to organize your video files for editing, then look no further! This guide will show you how to keep your files neat and tidy so that you can easily find what you need when it’s time to start editing.

    Setting up an external drive

Video files are huge! Get started by creating a dedicated hard drive for your editing files. This will keep your computer’s main hard drive from filling up and slowing down. Solid-state hard drives are the best, but they can be expensive if you need a lot of storage.

    Making main project folders

Once you have your external drive set up, it’s time to start creating project folders. Create a new folder for each video topic that you plan to edit. For example, if you’re editing a wedding video, then create one main project folder for the wedding.

This main folder should contain all of the files related to that project, including the footage, music, and other assets. These files will be further organized inside the main project folder.

    Creating a footage folder

Within each project folder, create a “footage” folder. This is where you will store all of the video footage for that project. Most editors like to separate out a-roll and b-roll, especially if there are lots of separate files.

If you have a lot of footage, you can further organize it by creating subfolders for each scene or location. For example, if you’re editing a wedding video, you might have subfolders for the ceremony, reception, and interviews.

    Creating an assets folder

The assets folder is where you will store all of the non-video files needed for your project. This includes music, logos, and other effects. Keeping these files separate from your video footage will make it easier to find what you need when you’re ready to start editing.

    Saving your editing project file

Once you have all of your files organized, it’s time to save your editing project file. This is the file that contains all of the information about your project, including the footage, assets, and other settings. Most editing programs (like Adobe Premiere) will allow you to save this file inside the main project folder.

    Exporting the final video

When you are finished editing, be sure to export the final video to the main project folder. Filing it in the main folder will ensure that you have a copy of the edited video in the same place as all your other project files.

    Additional cuts

Sometimes it makes sense to produce many different versions of a video. For instance, in our wedding example, you may do a 45-second vertical video for social media, a 2-minute highlights reel for YouTube, and a 15-minute full video for the wedding couple. You can either place all three final videos in the main folder or create a “final edits” folder and file the three videos inside it.

Final thoughts on video file and editing asset organization

Organizing your video files for editing doesn’t have to be complicated. Following these simple steps, you can keep your files tidy and organized to quickly find what you need when it’s time to start editing.

  • When to use Reels vs Stories on Instagram

When to use Reels vs Stories on Instagram

Wondering when to use reels vs stories on Instagram? It’s not always so clear which format is the right pick.

When considering using Reels vs Stories, use Reels for evergreen content like listicles and Stories for quick informal moments like a glimpse into your day. Reels can be 60 seconds long and have a very wide organic reach beyond your profile page, which is great for building your account. Stories disappear after 24 hours unless you save them to your Story Highlights.

Read on to learn all about when to use reels vs stories on your Instagram account.

The basics of reels vs stories

Have you ever wondered what the difference between a reel and a story is on Instagram? Wonder no more! In this post, we’ll take a look at the differences between reels and stories, and explain why it’s important to know the difference. Stay tuned – we promise that by the time you finish reading this post, you’ll be a reel pro!

    Reels

Instagram Reels are short videos up to 60 seconds long. You can add music, voiceovers, and other effects to your clips before publishing a Reel. Reels have their own tab in the Instagram app and this format has a wide organic reach. Both followers and non-followers are shown Reels based on hashtags and interests. Anyone on instagram can “remix” your Reel on their own account.

    Stories

Instagram Stories are informal short videos that were originally limited to 15 seconds but are now extended to 60 seconds (the same as Reels). Stories disappear from your profile

    Choosing reels vs stories

Reels have much bigger reach than Stories and are good for growing your account. People have to actually visit your page to view your Story Highlights. And people these days like to binge-watch people’s Reels when they visit your page. It’s more likely they’ll go to your Reels tab when they view your profile.

A great thing to have for Story highlights is an “about me” or “start here” for your first highlight section, so that when new people visit your page they can quickly find out about you.

You can also “pin” up to three posts on your profile now which has taken away some of the original benefits of story highlights. So if you had a video business card, or a high-performing reel, or an about me post, you can pin that to your page.

    When to use each format

Use Reels for any polished content and use Stories for any off-the-cuff selfie-style content. If the Story ends up being excellent, you can always save it to Story Highlights. Don’t use a polished edited video as a Story; save those for Reels, where higher production value is still seen as authentic.

Consider making Story Highlights for topics like “about me” or “start here”, and also pin couple of posts like a video business card or a high-performing Reel to your profile.
